Capuchin Saints

On June 16 we will be celebrating the Capuchin Martyrs of the Concentration Camps. When the Pope visited Poland in June of 1999, he beatify 108 martyrs who died in the Nazi death camps. These include five Capuchin friars and one Capuchin nun who perished at Auschwitz in the mid 1940's.

  • Fidelis Hieronim Chojnacki, O.F.M.Cap. (Warsaw Province) b. Nov. 1, 1906, in Lodz, Poland.
  • Florian Józef Stepniak, O.F.M.Cap. (Warsaw Province) b. Jan 3, 1912, in Zdzary, Poland.
  • Henryk Józef Krzysztofik, O.F.M.Cap. (Warsaw Province) b. March 22, 1908, Zachorzew, Poland.
  • Symforian Feliks Ducki, O.F.M.Cap. (Warsaw Province) b. May 10, 1888, Warsaw, Poland.
  • Mieczyslawa Kowalska, O.S.C.Cap. (Capuchin Poor Clare Monastery of Przasnysz) b. 1902, Warsaw, Poland.
